Site Council
Candeo Schools
Our Site Council consists of teachers and parents who represent the voice and views of our community. The Council exists as a device to gain understanding about important issues facing our school, participate in the decision making process, and suggest policy which supports a school of distinction.
The Council, consisting of 11 members, is assembled and used by the Site Administrator. The configuration of the group is as follows:
|
Teachers (5): 4 Lead Teachers, representing all grade levels and specialty areas 1 Instructional Specialist |
Parents (5) : PTO President 4 parents |
Site Administrator |
Characteristics of the Council:
1. The Council is a standing body, not an ad hoc committee assembled for a specific project.
2. The Council meets monthly (first Thursday of the month) and follows a standard, comprehensive agenda.
3. Council members come from a range of perspectives, but each member has deep knowledge about some aspect of the organization and/or the environment in which it operates.
4. Each Council member has the ability to argue and debate in search of understanding, not from the egoistic need to win a point or protect a parochial interest.
5. Each Council member retains the respect of every other Council member, without exception.
6. The Council does not seek consensus, recognizing that consensus decisions are often at odds with intelligent decisions. The responsibility for the final decision remains with the Site Administrator.
